In SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System), skos:altLabel marks an alternative lexical label for a concept. The concept has one preferred label (skos:prefLabel) and any number of alternate labels — synonyms, abbreviations, or variant spellings that all refer to the same concept.

Alt-labels are entry points, not separate concepts. A user who thinks in terms of rectify arrives at the same concept as one who thinks in terms of remediate. Both are valid ways to reach the concept; only one is the preferred term.

In this vocabulary, alt-labels are listed on the canonical term page. URLs for alt-label terms redirect to the canonical via HTTP aliases, so /ref/terms/rectify/ and /ref/terms/remediate/ both resolve to the same document.
